Research Progress on the Synthesis of Nanosized and Hierarchical Beta Zeolites

Beta zeolite, a crystal material with three-dimensional twelve-ring cross-channel structure, has many advantages, such as high Brønsted acid concentration, Si/Al ratio, thermal/hydrothermal stability, and large surface area. Due to these beta zeolite shows excellent catalytic performance in petroleum refining petrochemical processes. However, traditionally microporous strong steric hindrance diffusion restrictions, which hinder molecules from passing through its internal channels. In addition, carbon deposition occurs, resulting catalyst deactivation. The main strategy solve this problem is prepare nanosized or hierarchical zeolites, allow for molecule conversion shortening pathways. Therefore, researchers have explored different synthesis strategies particle sizes porosities obtain better catalysts. This paper briefly describes the recent research progress preparation of zeolite. Additionally, mechanisms various methods, structural characteristics, applications materials are introduced detail. Furthermore, problems existing industrial application describing by comparing advantages disadvantages methods optimally meet requirements development.
